Foxtrot Home - Prue and Kate

A very warm welcome to you, from us! We are Prue and Kate, co-founders of Foxtrot Home and natural homewares enthusiasts. We were born and raised on a sheep and beef station in Waimata Valley, Gisborne. Our parents live in Gisborne City now and we still call Tairawhiti our ‘home’. These days, Prue divides her time between Auckland where the main warhouses are, and Queenstown, where her partner lives. Kate is a stay-at-home Mum and is farming with her husband in Waipukurau, Central Hawkes Bay. More on their farm story here.

We decided to start a business together in 2017, but before that we lived very different past lives! Prue studied English Literature and Marketing at Otago after leaving school. From there she started her career in marketing for a publishing company before joining Wella as a product manager in their professional haircare division in 2003. In 2005 she moved with Wella to Sydney to work at the Australian head office where she was head of marketing for Australia and New Zealand until 2011 when she heard those foreign shores a-calling! After a year of travelling to all four points, Prue returned to live in NZ and held various marketing roles in the beauty and logistics industries before starting Foxtrot as a side hustle in 2017. During the first COVID lockdown in 2020 Prue decided to take the massive leap and leave her marketing role to work full time at Foxtrot ...and what a mighty decision that was!

In her late teens, Kate left the family farm in 1990 to move to Auckland and study in the Travel Industry. There, she became a travel agent and enjoyed this role for many years including during her OE which found her working in large travel organisations in England and Austria (to name a few). After returning home and working for Air New Zealand, she decided she wanted a change of scene and moved to Palmerston North to study Veterinary Science. It was only 6 months into her new career that she met her husband-to-be while practising in the beautiful MacKenzie Country. From there she moved back to the North Island to be closer to Jeremy. After the couple married and had two young babies and left their careers to become farmers, the joint-venture with Prue and Foxtrot Home began (more on the story of Kate and Jeremy here)

"Foxtrot" was started out of our desire to be in business together, and to have an income that allowed us a little more freedom in our respective lives. After much experimenting and researching, we landed on the idea to bring high-quality French Flax Linen bedding to the New Zealand market. It was after a fruitless search for affordable linen in New Zealand that we went about sourcing our own… and so our heart-led small business was born. In 2022 we began offering our beautiful NZ Lambswool throws and blankets, made from lambswool from Kate and Jeremy’s Hawkes Bay farm. We are thrilled to be sharing our passion for natural, ethically-made and sustainably-produced bedroom homewares with you!

Most of our linen is dispatched from our two warehouses in Auckland. We also have a warehouse in Waipukurau, Hawkes Bay where we dispatch our NZ Wool collections, Linen Sleepwear, Linen Quilts and Baby Linen from. We're excited to also have opened a new showroom where you can look and feel our beautiful goods. Please get in touch to come see us - you can make an appointment to see us here.

Welcome to our Linen and Wool-loving community. Please get in touch soon!
